The Waterville Inn

In 1966  retired Australian army Colonel Gearing Thomas came to Ireland and having travelled extensively in the USA, Europe and China,  he fell in love with Waterville, South Kerry. He built and opened Ireland's first Motel (Motor Hotel) and called it “The Jolly Swagman”.

It has changed hands over the years and in 2004 Damian and Sally Duff and family took it over. It is now The Jolly Swagman at The Waterville Inn. They have established a warm and friendly local Irish pub where you will meet the local people,  sportsmen,  farmers and  visitors from all lands and enjoy  great  hospitality, drinks, food music,  and dancing.
