Church Island
Church Island, located on Lough Currane, Waterville is a 12th Century Medieval Monastery built in romanesque style. You will appreciate the craftsmanship that went into building this at that time.
Also located on the island is St Fininans Cell believed to be associated with the sixth century saint known as Fionan Cam (Fionan the Squint-eyed).
On the island There is a stone church and two further cells for other monks. There are three altars, 11 cross slabs and pillar stones
